Why I Decided to Enter the Teaching Profession - 1020 Words

Assignment #3 Why enter teaching profession? It is work –related purpose to enter the Provincial Instructor Diploma Course. I am part-time instructor assistant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing program (DHH) at Vancouver Community College. I have worked with varied students – deaf, hard of hearing, deaf with disabilities. All of those adult students from full diversity of different sector and different religions in existing country. Not only that, some of students are fortunate enough to have already attended schools for the deaf in their home countries, and others may have had no education at all and arrive knowing gestures. Plus, those of whom from different countries and various education backgrounds from beginning to advance level in both American Sign Language and English. I find it challenge to work with deaf immigrant adults. Thus, I expect the course foundation of adult learning will help me better understanding of adult’s learning style, how to motive student’s learning, also memory and intellig ence. I have little experience in classroom teaching although I assist different instructors and sometime work with students one to one. Teaching is not my goal in near future but maybe later in 5 years. Individualism, Freedom, And Ethnocentrism - 848 Words

Three major American ideals that we have studied are individualism, freedom, and ethnocentrism. Slavery has challenged these ideals one way or another. Slavery is present in Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Fitzhugh, Douglass, and Dew. These pieces of literature focus on slavery. The idea of individualism states that the individual is very important and following one’s conscience and heart is the more important aspect. Henry David Thoreau speaks about individualism in his section titled Civil Disobedience (Thoreau, Civil Disobedience). The concept of individualism is challenged in Fitzhugh’s Sociology for the South. A quote to illustrate this is â€Å"He would become an insufferable burden to society. Society has the right to prevent this, and can only do so by subjecting him to domestic slavery† (Fitzhugh, Sociology for the South). Drawing Basics: How to Draw Dynamic Heads Essay Too many artists, perhaps fearful of their subjects, treat the head as if it were nothing ore than an inventory of features or an empty, hollyhock shape, void of life, sometimes sitting straight and rigidly on its neck, contradicting the underlying gesture of the body and looking like a lifeless lollipop, This eons-old challenge of how to put more elite and energy into drawings, paintings, and sculptures of the human head is easily answered once you get beyond the fear and the seeming complexity of the subject. I will outline many solutions throughout this article appropriate for both the beginner and advanced artist. Some of the cures will seem deceptively simple. Others will reach beyond the obvious, studying the head from all sides, including top and bottom. And just about all of them will somehow involve the overall figure, with the head serving as the crown of the magnificent machine that is the human body. Observe how the neck projects diagonally from the shoulder into the base of the head, pushing the head forward. This dynamic, diagonal relationship is most clearly identifiable on a side view, but as you likely know trot experience, its much more difficult to grasp on a three-quarter view, Youll know only too well when youve missed the neck slant. The head will often seem mashed into the neck, and both the head and the neck will seem off-center, placed too far over to one side on the shoulder. To correct this problem, try concentrating on the throat?or trachea? instead of the outside edges of the neck. The underlying projecting angle of the throat is much more apparent in this view. Draw upward from the pit of the neck, along the forward edge of the throat, until you reach the under plane or canopy of the chin, and add the outside lines of the neck later.
